What a 5-second trade is
On Pocket Option, the shortest duration is 5 seconds, on OTC assets only: the price comes from the platform’s own feed, open around the clock, and the payout reaches 92% on the most liquid pairs. You choose up or down, the trade closes 5 seconds later, and you win the payout or lose the amount.
Over 5 seconds a price barely moves: the outcome depends on the last tick, which is close to a coin toss. No indicator, no chart pattern changes that at this horizon. What decides the result is the arithmetic below.
The maths nobody shows you
At a 92% payout you need to be right on 52.1% of your trades just to break even. At one trade in two, every $100 traded loses $4 on average. The “5-second strategies” sold online promise 90% or more; nobody has ever shown verified results, because the horizon does not allow it.
The Sprint session, with its exact rules
The Optencis bot runs 5-second trades in Sprint sessions: a base amount of $1, and after each loss the next step covers the loss plus the base; the session stops at the first win, and is lost after 7 losses in a row. The amounts are not a secret:
| Step | Amount (base $1, 92% payout) |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | $1.00 |
| Step 2 | $2.09 |
| Step 3 | $4.36 |
| Step 4 | $9.10 |
| Step 5 | $18.99 |
| Step 6 | $39.64 |
| Step 7 | $82.72 |
| Total at risk over 7 steps | $157.90 |
A won session brings about $0.92. A lost session costs $157.90: it takes about 170 won sessions to pay for one lost one. That is the whole question of this kind of session: how often does the seventh loss in a row happen?
What 30 days of real signals say
Our engine scores every 5-second signal it produces on the market price at expiry: 3,253 over the last 30 days, about 108 per day, the complete flow across all OTC pairs, not a selection. Replaying Sprint sessions on that flow, in order, gives:
| Session | Count | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Won at step 1 | 807 | 48.6 % |
| Won at step 2 | 446 | 26.9 % |
| Won at step 3 | 205 | 12.4 % |
| Won at step 4 | 114 | 6.9 % |
| Won at step 5 | 54 | 3.3 % |
| Won at step 6 | 19 | 1.1 % |
| Won at step 7 | 7 | 0.4 % |
| Lost after 7 losses | 7 | 0.4 % |
Read at your own scale: 1 session in 237 is lost. At 10 sessions a day, that is a lost session about every 24 days. Between two of them, each won session brings about $1 at a $1 base; the lost one costs $157.90.
Longest losing streak over the period: 8 trades in a row. The figures update every 15 minutes and change with the market; a quiet month and a volatile month do not look alike, and past results do not predict future ones.

Frequently asked questions
Are 5-second trades available on every asset?
No. They exist on OTC assets, the ones priced by the platform and open at weekends. Real-market assets start at 1 minute. Our live payouts page shows the minimum duration of every asset.
Is there a 5-second strategy that works?
Not one that predicts the direction: over 5 seconds the price is close to a coin toss. What you can control is the payout you accept, the size of each step and the longest losing streak you can absorb. The replayed figures on this page show how often that streak reaches seven.
Does the martingale make 5-second trades profitable?
It changes the shape of the results, not their sign: many small wins and rare large losses. With a $1 base, the seven steps put $157.90 at risk, and one lost session wipes out about 170 won ones. Whether it ends up positive over a month depends on the losing streaks you meet, which is why we publish them.
Can I lose more than I deposit?
No: a binary options trade loses at most the amount you put on it, and a session stops when the next step exceeds your balance. But a session can cost the whole balance you set aside for it. Trade on demo first, and keep the base amount small.
Good to know. Binary options are risky: most retail traders lose money. Never trade money you cannot afford to lose.
Why we publish the losing streaks
Every page about 5-second trades shows a balance going up. None shows the one thing that decides whether a session survives: how many losses in a row the market produces. A step-up session wins almost every time and loses rarely, but the rare loss is large. The honest measure of that kind of session is therefore the distribution of losing streaks, replayed on the complete flow of signals, in order, without picking the good days. That is what the table above shows, and it changes every 15 minutes with the market.
The three numbers to keep in mind
52.1%: the hit rate you need at a 92% payout just to break even. $157.90: what seven steps from a $1 base put at risk. About 170: the number of won sessions a single lost one wipes out. Change the base amount and the total at risk scales with it; change the payout and the steps grow faster. Our payout article and our lesson on money management go through the arithmetic.
Where to start
Not with real money. The Optencis bot opens with a warm-up on a practice balance, then a free trial on the Pocket Option demo account, with the same signals and the same rules as the real account. Watch a few dozen sessions, look at the streaks you meet, and decide with the figures, not with a screenshot. Binary options are a high-risk product; Optencis is an affiliate of Pocket Option.
